Foundation Learning student Ella Curtis has just been named as a representative for Great Britain at the Special Olympics World Summer Games 2023 and if that wasn’t enough for her to celebrate, she recently was honoured to meet with King Charles on his visit to Bradford.

Special Olympics GB has just announced their first 58 athletes who will compete at next year’s Special Olympics, which are being held in Berlin between 17-25 June. Ella Curtis, who is part of the Bradford Disability Sport & Leisure Club, has been selected and will be competing in cycling disciplines during these competitions.

Ella has previously represented Great Britain in Cycling and won a medal at the Special Olympics in Abu Dhabi in 2019. It’s in recognition of this fantastic achievement that Ella was invited to meet with King Charles on his recent visit to the region.

Adam Longden, Head of Department for Foundation Learning comments, “We are absolutely thrilled that Ella has been selected for next year’s Special Olympics. This is an amazing achievement for her and we were so pleased that Ella was recognised for her sporting achievements during her meeting the King. We can’t wait to see Ella in action and the whole College and country are right behind her!”
