College Attends Skipton Eco Day

Published 30 April

Craven College joined Skipton Rotary for their 3rd annual eco event on Saturday 26 April. This fun-filled event for all the family included exciting activities, inspiring talks, and finding plenty of ways to make a difference for our planet, there is no planet B!

Skipton Eco Day 2025

The event, sponsored by BEYONDLY and supported by North Yorkshire Council, saw a host of organisations attending including Skipton Fair Share, Aire River Trust, Skipton Climate Action, Incredible Edibles, Bee Keepers, Skipton Fair Trade, and the library service. We were delighted to see the day was really well supported and bustling with interested visitors!

With environmental organisations, a clothes swap, a treasure hunt, a fair-trade café, the famous human fruit machine, and activities for children, this was a fun day out celebrating sustainability and community spirit.

Members of the College Sustainability Group attended the event representing the group, the Land-based Department and the College as a whole, together with Student Services. A big thank you to students Sophie, Marnie and Ben for their hard work and enthusiasm creating leaf art and leaf spinners with children (and several adults!).

With our stall showcasing the best sustainable promotional products, we enjoyed seeing what other stallholders and experts brought to the event.

We are very proud of our Catering students who provided a range of homemade delicious bakes and treats for the fair-trade café, a big thank you to them for their efforts.

Gillian Thom, Higher Education Manager and Sustainability Group Lead said, “The Eco Day is a fantastic chance to support a local event. As well as promoting the environmental courses and activities at the College it allowed students and staff to network with likeminded people, and we now have several collaborative plans for the future.
