Students Welcomed to College with Fair
Our brand-new students were welcomed to College recently with the annual Freshers’ Fair at the Aireville Campus and The Aviation Academy. The Fair gives students the opportunity to meet their peers, tutors and students from other courses and years, and a range of invited guests.

Freshers at The Aireville Campus were able to visit and chat with representatives from The Samaritans, Simon on the Streets, Friends of the Dales, The Salvation Army, Skipton Baptist Church, 3rd Skipton Scouts, Skipton Rotary Club, Living Well, BDCFT NHS Trust Wellbeing Champions, Bradford & District Talking Therapies, Leaders Unlocked, North Yorkshire Youth Limited, City of Sanctuary, North Yorkshire Police Special Constables, RAF, Skincare Business, NECA Gambling Service, YOGA, and Carers’ Resource.

Whilst at The Aviation Academy, students could chat with visitors from The Samaritans, Talk About Trust, Althams Travel, Cyber Prevent Team, Airport Police, Simon on the Streets, YOGA, RAF, IDAS, Carers’ Resource, Skincare Business, and NECA Gambling Service.
Alongside the opportunity to discuss contacts, services, and careers students could turn their creativity to bun decorating and graffiti boards, capture their memories in the photobooth, play a variety of games, enjoy face painting, henna and glitter tattoos, show off their vocal talents with the karaoke machine, and experience different worlds with VR Headsets. For those with a sweet tooth, the traditional ice cream van attended, and a range of other treats were on offer from fruit to the chocolate fountain!
Victoria Sacks, Enrichment Officer said, “The Freshers’ Fair is a fantastic opportunity for our students to discover new interests, connect with others, and explore the clubs, societies and support services available to them. It helps build confidence, a sense of belonging and a positive start to College life with 85% of our students saying that after attending they feel more confident and happy to come to College.”
Rosemary Simpson, Student Services Manager added, “The Freshers Fair is all about positive relationships with our external support services and our local community who come into College to meet our students to offer them support around their health and wellbeing, and discuss opportunities for their future. All students and staff are welcome to learn and enjoy this inclusive event.”
