Our Level 3 Year 2 Animal Management students enjoyed a trip to visit the University of Cumbria, to participate in a specially arranged bespoke Zoology day.

Students heard lectures on coral reef research and conservation in the Philippines, whilst closer to home they learned about the native species reintroductions using the South Cumbrian Pine Marten Project as an example of the tools used in field studies, which fascinated and engaged the audience!

The lucky students then had the opportunity to participate in a practical session, where they were asked to model differing behavioural strategies to explain them as evolutionary adaptations.

Danielle Fox, Head of Land-based Provision commented, “This fantastic visit gave our students a realistic perspective of what topics they would cover if they progressed on to a Zoology degree. The students loved it, and it was inspiring to see and hear it all from practising industry professionals.

A big thank you to the University of Cumbria for having us and giving our students such an enjoyable and useful day!

We are now taking applications for our Animal courses for September 2025.
