Christmas is supposed to be a time for joy and celebration but for too many people it is becoming increasingly difficult. With more people than ever expected to need to use a food bank during the festive period, staff and students decided to get involved in the Skipton Food Bank Christmas Parcel Appeal 2022.

As part of our #iwill youth Social Action Project students and staff set up donation points around College which were soon brimming with lots of Christmas food items. Students learned about the role of food banks in their community and how incredibly hard they work throughout the year to make sure that people in crisis get support. Christmas is often their busiest time, and staff and students at Craven College wanted to help to make sure that they had the supplies they needed to meet this increased demand.

Christmas is also a time for giving and sharing and Skipton Food Bank also gave the College some wonderful hampers which could also distribute to some of our students. We all know that it has been a tough year and we were delighted to help bring some light and joy to those in need.

Craven College would like to thank its partners from the #iwill Fund and Association of Colleges who have contributed to the funding to embed meaningful social action into the lives of young people. The #iwill Fund is made possible thanks to £50 million joint investment from The National Lottery Community Fund and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) to support young people to access high-quality social action opportunities.
