Moorland Association Sponsors Gamekeeper Countryside Worker Apprenticeship
We are delighted to announce the generous sponsorship of our Gamekeeper – Countryside Worker Apprenticeship by the Moorland Association. This vital support will help us continue to train the next generation of skilled land managers – ensuring the future of responsible countryside stewardship in the uplands.

The Gamekeeper – Countryside Worker Apprenticeship is designed for young people passionate about wildlife, rural heritage, and the working landscape. It offers a hands-on pathway into careers in gamekeeping, moorland management and conservation, equipping apprentices with skills in habitat care, predator control, deer and pest management, and the use of modern countryside tools and techniques.
Thanks to the support of the Moorland Association – who represent upland land managers across England – we’re able to invest more into the programme, offer better resources to our students, and raise awareness of this rewarding career route.
Danielle Fox, Head of Land-based Studies said, “We’re proud to be working with the Moorland Association to support young people into meaningful careers that benefit both rural communities and the natural environment.
“This partnership reinforces the importance of practical, conservation-led land management and the value of traditional rural skills.”
Duncan Bulloch, Assistant Principal Curriculum and Skills added, “A big thank you to all at the Moorland Association for supporting this fantastic programme. With their support we will be able to ensure our students are equipped with not only the knowledge but also the entry qualifications to allow them to be highly employable to the country estates that we work with around the North of England and beyond.”
The Moorland Association’s sponsorship reflects a shared commitment to safeguarding the future of the British uplands – by investing in the people who will care for them.
Together, we believe that equipping young gamekeepers and countryside workers with the right training not only strengthens rural economies but also protects biodiversity, reduces wildfire risk, and helps manage the land in line with long-standing environmental knowledge.
