Esports Students Undertake Work Experience

Published 05 February

Level 3 Esports students have been busy completing hours towards their mandatory work experience by building and managing a new website for local business Sewing Days. Students have worked closely with Sewing Days to create a new company logo and rework the existing website to give it a fresh, updated look.

Esports Work Experience

Working on all aspects of the site, the learners have created something that looks clean, modern, and professional, meeting regularly with Joanne from Sewing Days for approval, and to guide ideas and designs.

This has been an excellent opportunity for the learners to take creative lesson from College and apply them to a real-world, client lead project. Using teamwork, problem solving, and interpersonal skills, students handled all aspects of the project, including client meetings. The students organised themselves into roles based on their strengths and all the learners were responsible for elements of the new website.

Joanne from Sewing Days was very impressed with how the students have worked especially on Tuesday 03 February when the new website went live. Joanne said “Yesterday was brilliant! They have done a great job, and I love the new logo!

Chris Wright, Lecturer in Esports & Information Technology said, “For me as their Tutor, I am very impressed with how this project has gone, the students have worked really well, and despite some issues, they worked through the problems to create a new website that the client is very happy with. We will now continue this project with maintenance and updates of the website throughout the remainder of the year, while also moving to work on Sewing Days social media.
