We are delighted that we have further expanded our Higher Education range by offering two new courses: a HNC in Esports and an HNC in Sports (Community Sport and Physical Activities).

HNC Esports

Designed to give students an overview of the Esports industry, the units studied in the HNC in Esports will provide learners with valuable skills that are transferrable to a range of careers whilst giving the core attributes required for a career within the exciting and fast-paced world of Esports.

With an estimated 3.2 billion people across the globe engaged in gaming across a variety of platforms, many young people aspire to a career in the Esports industry and the HNC in Esports can lead to careers within the industry either as professional Esports athletes or other roles such as event organising, coaching, video production, and other supporting roles.

HNC Sports

The HNC in Sports (Community Sport and Physical Activities) is perfectly formed around units that provide those skills required by anyone working in the sports industry, whilst equipping students with skills transferrable to various industries. With modules covering Project Management, Nutrition, Inclusive Sport, and Anatomy & Physiology amongst others, this Level 4 qualification provides the perfect foundation for further study.

Gillian Thom, Higher Education Manager said, “These are Level 4 qualifications (equivalent to the first year of a degree) and add to the growing portfolio of Higher Education qualifications offered at Craven College. Courses are suitable for progressing Level 3 students or mature students returning to education and are timetabled to two days a week allowing time to earn and learn whilst remaining in the local area.

“Both courses have a strong vocational skills focus, taught through a combination of lectures, vocational projects such as ESport tournaments, visits, case studies and coaching exercises.”
