Student success was once again the focus, this time at one of our community partners, The Freshfield Centre in Burnley.
Freshfields is a dedicated day service that empowers adults with disabilities and diverse support needs. Nurturing and enabling life skills, Freshfields is committed to providing individuals with valuable support skills, and comprehensive training in horticulture, plant production, plant care, and gardening.
Craven College and The Freshfields Centre have strong links through lecturer Kathryn Pedley, and we are proud to be able to deliver Horticulture courses to service users.
At the first celebration event of its kind, Practical Horticulture students from the last three years were given a College certificate, bag, and pack of seeds to recognise their achievements.
Mel Cairns, Head of Adult Education said, “This is the first year we have done these awards, which are a testament to the hard work, commitment and enthusiasm of the Freshfield learners, who get so much joy out of what they do.
We have celebrated learners from the last three years, who not only have completed their course but are continuing their learning by supporting current learners.
A huge thank you to Tutor Kathryn Pedley, and the Freshfields Centre for their hard work and support”
