Discovery Day Showcases Next Steps for Students
The Craven College HE Discovery Day 2025 was a fantastic way to help students decide if university is the right option for them and which institution might be the best fit. Showcasing options for learning or progression, the event aimed to give expert advice to students considering Higher Education and to allow students to make all important connections with universities throughout the country.

Exhibitors at the event included Craven College’s own Higher Education team, Bangor University, Coventry University, Edge Hill University, Futureworks School of Media, Harper Adams University, Leeds Art University, Leeds Trinity University, Northumbria University, The Northern School of Art, Teesside University, University College Leeds, University of Bradford, University of Huddersfield, University of Hull, University of Lancashire, University of Leeds, University of Sheffield, University of Sunderland, and York St John University and companies such as Flying Futures Community Interest Company, NatWest Bank, and TaxAssist.
The event game students the chance to talk to representatives from organisations, to take information away with them to peruse later, and to speak to new universities they may have not considered.

Amanda Carr, Careers Manager said, “The HE Discovery Event brought together over 20 universities along with employers, giving students a rich opportunity to explore a wide range of academic and careers pathways. Throughout the event, students shared that they found the experience highly valuable as it helped them learn new information, ask meaningful questions, and gain a clearer insight into the options available to them after College. Most left feeling more confident and inspired about their future choices.
“Universities shared that they had met with some great students and were looking forward to meeting them again at Open Days and seeing them apply. And even the Careers Team learned about some amazing new vocational degree courses, so can’t wait to share the information with relevant students!”
Gillian Thom, Higher Education Manager added, “Degrees at Craven College are an ideal option for students that want to study and work or have caring responsibilities. Degrees are designed to develop the skills required in industry and delivery is in small friendly groups. Study at Craven and all the lecturers will know your name.”

UCAS Application Support Sessions are running on Mondays and Wednesdays from 1pm to 2pm in the HE Common Room where students can speak to staff from Admissions, Careers Advisors and supporting visitors from universities to really make their applications stand out from the crowd!
