How to Get into Teaching

Would you like a change of direction or a family-friendly career choice that draws on your existing expertise?
A teaching career at Craven College, Skipton allows you to travel to work in the Yorkshire Dales with the most magnificent daily views from our rural campus. For those based at The Aviation Academy, you will have the excitement of teaching airside at Leeds Bradford Airport.

Teaching 16-18 or 19 + aged students at a Further Education College in vocational subject areas (ie career-related) gives you the opportunity to pass on your expertise and experience whilst being supported through an appropriate teaching qualification at the same time.

Clearly, you need to have a love of young people and be able to relate to them as the young adults that they are. This is not school, it is preparing students for the next step, whether that is a career change, a vocational qualification or an apprenticeship.

If you are new to the Further Education sector, it is probably bigger than you think with over 2.2 million students overall and 5,000 of those attend Craven College, Skipton. We employ approximately 450 members of staff, so there is plenty of support for those just embarking out on their teaching careers. With over 450 courses and 31 apprenticeships, we are always on the lookout for new experts to teach the next generation of vocational students.
