Elective Home Education (EHE)

The Craven College Elective Home Education (EHE) Service is part of the College’s provision for young people aged between 14-16. 
Our EHE provides education, on a part-time basis only, on behalf of the parent/guardian for students who are not in any other funded education.

To join our EHE service a student must:

The main focus of our EHE Service is to deliver maths and English on our Skipton campus at Craven College. Any applicants are also encouraged to consider other elements of the 14-16 Service which includes subjects such as Vehicle Maintenance, Construction, Catering and Hairdressing & Beauty Therapy. English and Maths

Students will attend College for either half a day of either English or maths provision, or a full day studying both.
All 14-16 students will be individually assessed to identify their starting point. If a young person is working at around Grade 3 (or above) at GCSE, they will be eligible to study for AQA Maths GCSE and/or Eduqas English GCSE.
Young people working at a lower level will focus on achieving Edexcel Functional Skills in English and maths as a starting point, before progressing to the GCSE.

Joining Vocational Courses

14-16 year-old applicants may be considered for entry onto other vocational programmes will be at the discretion of the College. 
Typically a student aged 14 may have the opportunity to learn alongside students aged 16 and over. 
Those students who are aged 15 are more likely to be considered for early entry and may then, if successful, be considered for progression onto a more advanced level in the following year.

  • Art
  • Catering
  • Construction
  • Hair & Beauty
  • Vehicle Maintenance

Finance and Fees

Where students meet the conditions of being Electively Home Educated then no fee will be required.  However, the provision of equipment (including overalls or special footwear if required) is entirely the responsibility of the parent/guardian.  In addition, the College does not accept any responsibility for transport or the provision of free school meals.
