Cookery & Culinary Arts

If you aspire to become a professional chef and build a career in the fast-paced catering and hospitality industry, our Culinary Arts course will provide you with the skills, knowledge and experience needed to succeed. Whether you are joining us straight from school or looking to refresh and develop your existing skills, this course offers an excellent introduction to the world of professional cookery.

You will learn in our outstanding catering facilities, including a state-of-the-art Preparation Kitchen and Production Kitchen, which supports service in The 3 Peaks Bistro. These industry-standard environments will enable you to develop your practical skills while gaining experience that reflects the demands of a real working kitchen.

Guided by highly skilled chefs and hospitality professionals, you will develop a wide range of culinary and employability skills. As your confidence grows, you may take on greater responsibility within the kitchen, learning about food safety, menu planning, stock control, quality assurance and effective teamwork. You will also gain an understanding of front-of-house operations and how they work alongside the kitchen to deliver an exceptional customer experience.

Throughout the course, you will progress from learning fundamental food preparation and cookery techniques to developing the professional skills required in today’s hospitality industry. From planning menus and preparing dishes to serving customers and supporting events, you will experience the realities, challenges and rewards of working in a professional catering environment, preparing you for further study, apprenticeships or employment within the sector.
