Charity Banquet with The Bull at Broughton
Craven College and The Bull at Broughton teamed up on Tuesday 16 January 2018 to host a charity banquet to raise funds for Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice.
Students working towards their Professional Cookery Level 1 and Culinary Skills Level 2 worked with The Bull’s Head Chef, Paul Morris to prepare and serve a three-course banquet for guests.
William Jacques, Professional Cookery Tutor said ‘We have been looking to improve our links with local employers and businesses, so when The Bull contacted me about us having greater links with them we were very enthusiastic to be involved. It has enabled the students to see a real-life working kitchen, learn new techniques and add to their work experience. The level 1 students prepped the meal in the morning and level 2 students cooked and served the food.’
“The students were excited to be working in a well-known establishment. The Level 2 student have previously done a similar evening at the Devonshire Arms, so were interested in working in a different establishment. Most of the Level 1 students aren’t currently employed in the industry so saw this is an ideal opportunity to gain experience.”
The evening began with a complimentary drinks reception and canapes also prepped and served by the students.
