Craven College is a great place to study. Our recent Higher Education Quality Review awarded the College the highest possible rating and said that the College’s HE programmes were ‘good or excellent’. Our focus is you and your strengths and your aspirations.
The College offers HNC's, Foundation Degrees and Top-up or Progression Degrees. Foundation Degrees are well-respected qualifications in their own right and develop specific expertise relevant to a particular sector of the industry. Students spend the first two years at Craven College to attain a Foundation Degree, and then may have the option to top up their qualification to gain a full honours Degree, either with us at Craven College or at an alternative institution. All our courses are industry relevant and current, written in consultation with employers and key industry partners. In addition to the key vocational content students also study key employment skills such as time-management, ICT and numeracy.
Foundation Degrees generally last two years (full-time) though some courses offer a part-time study option, these take three years to complete. If students stay on at the College for a top-up, they study for a further year (full-time) or two years (part-time). The Foundation Degrees are similar to HNCs and HNDs but offer a more work-focused curriculum.
The College also offers some HNC's in areas where it is more suitable. Pearson Edexcel BTEC Higher National Certificates (HNC) have been developed to focus on providing education and training for a range of vocational careers and offering a nationally recognised Level 4 or 5 vocationally specific qualification.
For those wishing to train as a teacher for post-16 students, the Ascentis Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training is the ideal qualification. This Diploma provides the widely recognised Level 5 teaching qualification for teachers, lecturers and trainers in the post-16 Education and Training sector which includes Further Education, Adult and Community Learning and Work-Based Training.
There are many advantages for students studying at Craven College.

The College has an Access Agreement which details help available to students.
For students to be eligible for funding from Student Finance England, they must be studying on an eligible course at a provider registered with the Office for Students (OfS). The OfS is the new independent regulator for higher education in England and all higher education providers need to register with the OfS for their students to be eligible for student support in the 2019-20 academic year. The OfS will start publishing providers on its Register from July 2018. We have made an application to register and expect a decision by September 2018. No provider will be able to confirm whether student support is available until it has a decision from the OfS. Visit www.officeforstudents.org.uk for more information.
