Art & Design – Fine Art Metalwork Level 1
Feeling artistic and creative? Love working with metal and have some experience of working with it creatively? This course could be just what you’re looking for!
During this course you will building on the knowledge that you gained during the Entry 3 Level Award in Creative Craft – Fine Metalwork. You will further develop these skills to create more complex items:
- using design processes to create your idea
- using tools to mark and cut out shapes in metal
- how to shape metal using various machines, tools and techniques
- how to join metals using soldering techniques
- how to create different surface textures and finishes
Plus you will learn how to change the properties of metals using heat treatment, how to descale metals using a pickling device, how to use a fine-bladed saw and the theory behind these processes.
There will even be an opportunity to use recycled materials to inspire your creativity!

For your safety, you will need to wear a flame retardant apron and sturdy footwear
