Craven College Sport Level 3 students took part in the 40th anniversary of the AoC Sport National Championships – a special milestone in the history of this prestigious event. This is the largest annual student sporting event in the UK, with nearly 1,740 college students taking part this year. It took place from 20-22 April at the University of Nottingham’s David Ross Sports Village and brought students nationwide together to compete.
This year, all teams had a tough 2 days with 7 matches to play in the Rugby 7’s tournament. The Rugby 7’s team, worked hard as a squad to complete the Saturday large fixture list in very hot conditions. Everyone contributed to the team against the larger elite academies. Unfortunately, we had to withdraw as we were only left with 5 players able to play on the Sunday.
Vicky and Matt Merrick represented Craven College in the women’s and men’s cross country respectively. Matt Merrick, unfortunately had to pull up when leading due to a groin strain. Vicky Merrick came 17th in a large field which helped the Yorkshire girls team to come 3rd overall.
The staff would like to thank all the students for their excellent behaviour and effort over the weekend.
