Sign Language Introduction

Health & Social Care courses

Health and Social Care Level 2 students were given an introduction to Sign Language by Craven College tutor Gillian Everett. The students are learning about alternative forms of communication in the Health and Social Care environment so that if they are in a home with service users with a hearing impairment, then they can communicate – even a ‘hello’ or ‘thank you’ makes a difference.

Head of School, Zoe Macdonald said ‘The students enjoyed it. In a practical sense, this new knowledge will help the students with their work placements. It has also raised their awareness of how people feel with an impairment.’
