Public Services courses

Mattie Tew, Leading Chef and Logistics Specialist Recruiter with the Royal Navy came to talk to Public Services students to promote awareness of the careers in the Royal Navy, what can be achieved whilst in the Royal Navy and where it can take you in life.

Mattie covered the fundamentals of what the Royal Navy actually do: counter-piracy operations, anti-drugs and narcotics operations, disaster relief and humanitarian aid, immigration controls, fishery protection and also protecting the waters around the UK. All of this comes under defending our nation’s interests at sea.

He then covered the naval service and the other arms of the armed services eg the Army and the RAF and what they do around the world on a day to day basis. This was followed by advice on how to apply, job potentials, apprenticeship scheme, allowances, pay, benefits, holidays and sports opportunities.

The team also cooked a paella which the students were then able to sample.
