Phone Call to USA

Published 11 December

Students studying the Young Children’s Learning and Development Foundation Degree contacted a nursery in the USA to compare how the education system there differs from ours in the UK.

The group contacted Yvette Salmons, Lead Teacher at a child care centre in Wake Forest, North Carolina, via Whatsapp to discuss the differences.

The discussion focussed mainly on children aged between zero and seven years and provided great insight into how the education system is run in the USA. Yvette also sent across thirty photographs of her classroom and learning resources for our students to study.

The phone call was arranged by tutor Dr. Victoria Garnett (Ph.D., MSc, BSc (Hons), PGCE, RGN, FDip NLP, Dip CBT).
