National Citizen Service Programme Challenges Public Services
Published 18 December
Public Services Level 3 first-year students enrolled onto the National Citizen Service programme.
The first part of the programme involved the students taking part in an outdoor adventure residential in the Peak District. They took part in a wide range of activities from ‘weaseling’ (crawling through tiny holes in the rocks and boulders on the hills in the High Peak area), to raft building, high ropes course and abseiling.
Course Tutor Bridget Slater said, ‘The students all enjoyed the experience despite being wet and cold for much of the time.’
On their return to College the students engaged in two social action projects which involved raising money for Help for Heroes and money to buy goods to make boxes of essentials for the homeless.
