Just missed out on your GCSEs? Our Level 2 Health and Social Care Diploma can help

Every year the Level 2 Health and Social Care Diploma at Craven College helps young people who have just missed out on securing their dream futures. The year-long course provides students with the equivalent of 2 GCSEs in what could be argued is the most important role in the country right now! Alongside the course, students are supported to achieve their maths and English GCSEs, so that when finished there are plenty of options open.

Student Stacie Lever – who has now graduated from the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care with D*DD – recalls her time on the Level 2 Diploma as being her inspiration to study further. “At school, I had always been told that I couldn’t do it. I struggled with concentration and always felt one step behind. But college helped me to realise that I have specific learning needs, and with the support of some amazing tutors I am now in a position where I can actually go to uni if I want!”

Similarly, ex-student Tayabbah Iqbal is now enrolling to study the Access to Higher Education Diploma so that she can go to university to study Nursing. She says “I felt really welcomed by the college and I know that all of my tutors really wanted the best for me. I’m excited now to be just one year away from university and I feel that I finally have the study skills that I need to be a success.”

The Level 2 Health and Social Care Diploma could be for you also if you prefer coursework to exams. Students study several different units, such as Communication Skills and the Impact of Diet, and leave with well-developed report writing skills that make them desirable to local employers. Tutors also spend time working on developing the practical skills that are needed by employers, and some assignments can even be passed by showing “vocational competency.”
