Animal Behaviour and Welfare HNC first-year students enjoyed a visit to Blackpool Zoo as part of the Animal Husbandry module. They were able to examine the different types of animal accommodation within the zoo and analyse housing in relation to behaviour, welfare and environment.
Tutor Joanna Daley said “This was a fantastic opportunity for the students to complement their learning at our Animal Management Centre with the vast range of animal accommodation at Blackpool Zoo. With animal welfare always at the centre of what we do, the students were able to find out at first hand the strategies employed by the zoo, especially in the relatively new elephant enclosure.”
