Richard Easton, Garden Design Tutor said,'Vanessa is such a strong student. She works very hard to get top marks, and her determination has won out in this competition. We're so pleased for her and we're grateful that the judges recognised what is a stunning balcony design'.
Vanessa said, "I'm so thrilled to have won the Balcony Competition for the International Landscape Show held at Battersea Park, London.
Being a Craven College Garden Design student has provided me with exceptional training from Richard Easton, and wonderful facilities at Harlow Carr and York Gate. This in-depth degree course run over three years has allowed me the opportunity to delve deeper into the subject areas surrounding Garden Design, which would not have been possible for me on a shorter course.
As Students we are encouraged to consider the wider picture, not just the aesthetics of a design, which were definitely skills I had to use on this tiny urban balcony of only 3 m x 1.5 m, where every item had to count.
I am looking forward to beginning my practice in the near future and solving the challenges of urban gardens through to those of larger estates".
