Garden Design Visit Fountains Abbey

Published 30 March

Third-year Garden Design students enjoyed a visit to World Heritage Site,  Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Garden.
They are studying Garden History and the Conservation of Heritage Gardens as part of their course, looking at issues of conservation and renovation. For one assignment, they design an area of a heritage garden and present it in the highest professional standards (in readiness for their professional careers). In the past, this has enabled students to enter national competitions. Two students, two years ago, were finalists in the Society of Garden Designers’ annual awards.
Richard Easton, Programme Tutor said, “We were thrilled that student work was so highly regarded, and we have high expectations this year that the student designs for Studley Royal/Foundations Abbey will continue to showcase our preeminence in teaching garden design in the North”.
