Level 3 Equine student, Ciaran Kelly-Almond has received praise from Craven College tutors and his work placement for his hard work and commitment to his studies.
Ciaran, who is in his second year of his Level 3 Horse Management (Equine) course secured a work placement at Jo Foster Racing last year and has continued working for Jo throughout the summer helping to care and exercise racehorses.
Jo Foster Racing, based on Ilkley, provides a first-class service with individual personal care tailored to suit every one of their racehorses and have trained over 120 winners.
Recently, as part of National Racehorse Week Ciaran, along with Team Foster attended a local care home with some of the racehorses to give residents the chance to see the horses up close.
Talking about Ciaran, Jo Foster comments, “Ciaran has helped us with our yard visits taking racehorses and their companions out into the wider community. This includes care homes and schools. He has developed interaction skills with the public whilst in charge of a racehorse, vital for anyone wishing to progress safely within the industry”.
Ellie Stephenson, Equine Studies Lecturer at Craven College says, “All of Ciaran’s equine tutors are especially proud of his hard work and the progress that he is making. Since starting his work placement, we have seen significant advancement in Ciaran’s practical horse care, riding and employability skills. We would also like to thank all at Jo Foster Racing for providing these invaluable opportunities which have enhanced his career opportunities. Well done Ciaran!”
