Employer Day at the High Street
Last week, the High Street Campus held its annual Employer Day today for students to find out more about the variety of career opportunities that may be available to them when they complete their course at College.
- Catering & Hospitality students had presentations from Alexanders, the Devonshire Arms Hotel and Grantley Hall Hotel followed by a presentation from Army Training Corp on the career opportunities open to students if they went into the Army
- Beauty therapy students took part in a spray tanning training day and an introduction to HD Eyebrows demonstration
- Nail Services students once again welcomed back ex-student and salon owner Catherine Lawson who demonstrated some new techniques using her own range of gels
- Hairdressing students took part in a hair curling and styling techniques workshop with Tim Carpenter, UK educator for Babyliss
Finally, tutors Carol Opie-Kumar and Diane Elwiss welcomed back to College two of their former hairdressing apprentices Michael Whitaker and Joe Sorge. They now run their own barbers salon called ‘Manetain’ in Silsden. Joe and Michael demonstrated current trends and techniques in barbering to the students.
Catering & Hospitality tutor Will Jacques said: “Employer day is a great chance for our students to engage with the career opportunities available to them following their vocational course. We were really pleased to be able to welcome so many great local and national employers and businesses today.”
