Emma Grange completed her Level 3 Extended Diploma in Horse Management in 2019. As part of the course, she completed her work experience with local event rider James Rushbrooke and was delighted to be offered the opportunity to work for James full-time following completion of her course. As a student, Emma was new to the sport of eventing but her time with James developed her love for the sport and she now successfully competes with her own horses.
International event rider James Rushbrooke runs a successful event yard, with horses competing at all levels from BE90 up to 4* international events. Emma has accompanied James to groom for him at numerous events including Chatsworth and Burnham Market. James recently enjoyed his first time representing the British Team at Military Boekelo International Horse Trials. James publicly thanked Emma for her contribution “for having Barney looking beautiful all week and being at his every need.”
Emma studied a range of subjects at Craven College from preparing horses for presentation, riding and stable management, to rehabilitation and therapy of horses, all of which have helped her in her chosen career path. As part of the equine course, students studied handling and backing young horses and Emma brought in her unbroken 3-year-old horse Freya. Students, under the direction of equine staff, were involved in handling and backing Freya and Emma is now riding and competing with her.
