Craven College Announces Appointment of New Principal & Chief Executive Officer

The Board of Craven College is delighted to announce the appointment of Lindsey Johnson as Principal and Chief Executive of Craven College. Lindsey will replace Joanne Sherrington, currently, Interim Principal, when Joanne moves to Myerscough College in early 2020.

Lindsey, who holds an MSc in Equine Science, is currently Vice Principal Curriculum and Support at The Manchester College. Lindsey has worked in the sector for over 25 years, having previously been Vice Principal Curriculum and Quality at West Suffolk College. Senior posts have also been held at Moulton College, Askham Bryan College and Bishop Burton College

Lindsey is recognised nationally for work on the leadership of maths, English and work experience as an integral part of the curriculum offer and is passionate about ensuring the overall student experience enables progression and aspiration.

Lindsey originates from Yorkshire and interests include rugby coaching, boxing training and choral singing.

David Mabbitt, Chair of Craven College Board says “Lindsey comes with a wealth of knowledge, experience, energy and enthusiasm and a track record of improving student outcomes. We look forward to welcoming Lindsey to Craven College in mid-February 2020”.

Lindsey says: “I consider myself to be very privileged to be afforded the opportunity to lead such a unique organisation as Craven College. The vocational purpose of the college is fully inclusive, meaning that we are providing technical education to individuals from school leavers at the start of their careers to adults who are upskilling and supporting regional productivity through our employer partnerships. The fundamental success of the College arises from the staff team who advocate confidence, ambition and optimism for their students and make a difference every day, and I am delighted to be working with such committed professionals.“
