Former Craven College construction student, David Scott has proved himself to be in the top 3 of the nations' best student plasterers by achieving a bronze medal at the end of a gruelling 3 day event at the Skills Show, Birmingham NEC.
Competing against 7 other finalists, David had to complete a range of plastering tasks including solid, external, beading, one coat, and fibrous to prove his credentials over the 3 days.
The judges said that the standard of plastering was the best they had seen in 5 years making it very hard to make a final decision. Although David himself was initially disappointed not to have come away with gold, he admits that he has done exceptionally well to be classed as the third best plasterer nationally.
Having put all his efforts into the competition for the past few months, David is now looking for work and is already in demand. He says 'Entering SkillBuild has been great for me. It has given me lots more confidence in my abilities and it also proves to future employers and customers that I can do a really good job'.
