The College has commissioned the construction of ‘Sit and Bee’ Seat, an initiative working with The Bee Together Project.

The Bee Together Project aims to bring people together to help reverse the decline of wild bees and other pollinators, through engagement, education and practical conservation work. With over half of the 25 bumblebee species in the UK in decline, the aim of the bee seat will be to contribute towards reversing this trend.

The seat provides a habitat for solitary bees and a place for students to sit and engage with wildlife and has been built by Simon Morphet, who gained his Degree in Conservation and Countryside Management at the College.

The ‘Sit and Bee’ seat was funded by the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust and the Heritage Lottery Fund, and this project is just the first stage in Craven College’s plans to create a sustainable and green campus that benefits the environment, wildlife and students.
