Students Feature on BBC One
Two of our Young Children’s Learning and Development students have been featured on BBC One News about their placement working with young people from Acorns Nursery based in Eldwick and Harrogate. The report focused on the funding cuts impacting on nurseries which have led to a reduction of 30p an hour to the government’s 30 hours of childcare.
The coverage included an interview with the director of Acorns about this topic and how the nursery had been dealing with it. It then featured two of our current students. Sonia Bouabdellah, who was shown reading ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ to a group of children and serving lunch to children. It also featured role play in the ice cream shop as part of the holiday topic and another group of children exploring shaving foam with Fran Dean. Both students are studying for their Foundation Degree and both have recently been promoted to management and senior positions.
