Hinterlands Film Festival Promotion At Craven College
Sarah Bird, Director and Aileen Ging, Production Manager of Wild Rumpus and organisers of the Hinterlands film festival came to discuss work experience opportunities with Craven College Creative Arts students.
Hinterlands is an annual event held in May which celebrates films set in and about the countryside, engaging both those who themselves live in a rural environment and those curious to learn more about what life is actually like lived away from major urban centres. Screenings of classics and brand new titles will be held in and around the landscape of Skipton.
To complement these screenings there will be director talks, workshops, immersive performances, short film competitions and a wide range of family programming designed to inspire audiences to reimagine their relationship with the countryside. The festival will utilise a variety of spaces and places across Skipton, from the Plaza cinema to local woodland, heritage sites and unused spaces – and also sites that themselves have featured as film locations.
Sarah and Aileen outlined how the students could get involved, including set design, art direction, costumes, makeup, graphic design, podcasts and marketing
Sarah says, ‘Getting involved with Hinterlands is great experience for the students. They get an idea of the practicalities around working in the creatives and cultural industries.’
