Fullalove Clothing Shares Green Message
Ex Craven College Fashion student Millie Fullalove has created her own fashion brand Fullalove Clothing where she makes sustainable, eco-friendly garments out of natural fabrics and natural dyes.
Fashion Tutor Joan Murray invited Millie back to College to talk to current students and inspire them to get into eco-fashion and also to spread the message to say that you can do what you want and achieve your dreams if you work hard enough.
Millie studied fashion at Craven College, followed by an Art Foundation course, where she specialised in fashion. She says ‘The facilities at College were amazing, the tutors, particularly Joan, were inspiring and incredibly motivating people. There is a good sense of community at College and students really wanted to do well. I’m really glad I could come back and give back and inspire the current students.’
After a swimwear and lingerie design course at University, Millie started working in fast fashion where she saw the dark side of the industry and felt she had to do something about it. She saw how negatively it affected people’s lives through wages, waste, the chemical toxins that were put in the atmosphere and absorbed into our skin through the dyeing and manufacturing processes. Millie wanted to do something different, so started looking into natural fabrics, natural dyeing, hand-made manufacturing ie slow fashion.
All of Millie’s fabrics are bamboo-based or organic cotton and biodegradable. All of the dyes are all-natural.
Her final words of advice? ‘Follow your hearts. You don’t have to be mega-rich to start your own business. Pursue your dreams.’
