Seven Pheasant Chicks Hatch at College

Published 27 June

This week, seven Pheasant Chicks have hatched in the Animal Management Centre.

The Animal Studies students have been involved in all aspects of incubating, hatching and caring for the chicks, helping with their overall understanding of animal husbandry.

The chicks are currently in a brooder, which is a type of enclosure for chicks, that has heat sources to keep them at the correct temperature and allow them to develop correctly. The chicks have grown a lot since hatching two weeks ago, but it will still be a few months before they are fully grown!
