This weeks animal of the week is the Red Cap Oranda fish.

There are a huge variety of fish kept here at Craven College, that all have varying care and requirements, but generally can be kept together.

The Red Cap Oranda fish are a breed of goldfish and are well known for there 'red cap' on top of their head. Usually, the cap is a light red colour and the rest of the body is white.

The Goldfish originally came from parts of Asia, Japan, and China. Orandas are a descendant of the wild Carp. However, this is one of the only goldfish breeds to resemble the Carp barely at all.

Any goldfish breed with a hood, including the Oranda requires clean water to live in, or their hoods are likely to become infected with any floating debris, bacteria, and even fungi.
