Published 01 April

Land-based Technology Level 2 students last week visited agricultural machinery manufacturer, Sumo UK.

The group enjoyed a factory visit where they saw how various aspects of machinery are made and fitted together. They were able to enhance their knowledge of manufacturing, boost industry links, and aid career progression.

The Yorkshire-based company specialise in the design and manufacture of innovative machinery for the different farming systems across the world. Designed and built by some of the country’s finest and most highly-skilled engineers, Sumo machines are made to last.

Joanna Baxter, Centre Manager for Animal, Equine Studies and Engineering, said: “The trip was a fantastic opportunity for the students to see a factory in action. As well as aiding their studies, it’s great for them to get out of the classroom and learn in a different environment.”
