Rural Apprentice Highly Commended at Yorkshire Post Awards
Rural Apprentice, Joe Stobbs, received a Highly Commended Award in the category of Apprentice of the Year in The Yorkshire Post Rural Awards 2019. Joe was invited to the awards evening took place at The Pavilions of Harrogate on 10th October.
The black-tie event comprised of a drinks reception and three-course dinner and was hosted by BBC presenter Harry Gration.
Joe was nominated due to his dedication to the agricultural industry and his family’s farming business, Throstle Nest Farm in Bishop Thornton which has 750 store cattle and approximately 900 sheep. He has worked part-time on other farms to gain experience in different types of agriculture.
Graham Taylor, Joe’s Tutor says, ‘it has been a real pleasure to teach Joe and guide him through the Apprenticeship. Joe shows maturity beyond his years and I am sure he will a very successful career in the industry “
Joe said ’ I was really happy and surprised to be nominated for this award! I know both my parents are really proud of what I have achieved. I didn’t win the Apprentice of the Year Award but I was awarded a special Highly Commended certificate which I went on stage to collect. I really enjoyed the evening, it was a great chance to speak to other people within the same industry as me.’
