Level 2 and Level 3 e-sports students teamed up with Kettu Studios on their new Augmented Reality (AR) Mobile Game ‘Dogs’ Dales’.
Dogs’ Dales is shown through AR via your phone and takes you around areas of Skipton locating the characters of the game and encourages people to learn about the history and experience of visiting Skipton.
The students supported Kettu Studios by helping test the functionality and features of the game and testing an alternative app for comparison. They then fed back their findings to Virpi Kettu, of Kettu Studios for further game development.
The students found the experience rewarding as they got to see first-hand how testing has a positive impact on games development. It also gave them real-world experience of a test session run for a commercially viable game currently in production. So successful were the sessions, that the students will be returning to help out with further testing for Kettu Studios.
Chris Wright, Lecturer in Information Technology and e-sports said, “This is a valuable activity for students, as it is showing them how skills and knowledge learned in college directly relates to a job within their chosen industry and that the testing and reviews we conduct on college assignments are the same as that conducted in a real-world project.”
If you’re interested in studying e-sports or IT at Craven College then there’s still time to apply for this September. Visit: ESports or Computing for more info.
