Key Duties

This job description is a guide to the duties you will be expected to perform immediately on your appointment. These may change in the future in line with the strategic direction and development of the College.

  • Work with FutureHY colleagues to develop and deliver effective and engaging activities that will encourage and support the progression of under-represented groups to higher education.
  • Be responsible for planning, arranging, delivering and evaluating visits to schools and colleges in identified areas.
  • Co-ordinate and direct the work of Student Ambassadors supporting events.
  • Work with FutureHY colleagues to carry out effective, targeting, monitoring and evaluation of activity to ensure Uni Connect aims and objectives are being met.
  • Help maintain and develop a bank of age appropriate innovative and challenging activities, presentations and resources which can be used by all FutureHY partners
  • Support development and implementation of collaborative activities.
  • Attend operational meetings and maintain regular contact with FutureHY colleagues throughout the partnership.
  • Play an active role in the development and implementation of policy and procedure, sharing best practice with other teams.
  • Any other duties as may reasonably be required.
  • Ensure that the highest standards of professional performance are maintained

  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and statutory codes of practice, as advised
  • Participate in the arrangements for performance review and appraisal.
  • Ensure that professional skills are regularly updated through participation in training and development activities

The person we are hoping to appoint will meet all the following essential requirements and some or all of the desirable requirements.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Recent graduate of a UK higher education institution 
  • Awareness of the current issues facing students in higher education and issues which may prevent young people aspiring to HE
  • Experience of delivering high quality presentations
  • Experience of working with young people
  • Understanding of the UK higher education system
  • Excellent communication, planning, interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and in a team environment
  • Skills in information technology, including experience of MS Office, database and web packages
  • Positive approach to flexible working, including some evenings and weekends
  • Ability to think and work independently, creatively and use initiative at events frequently held off campus
  • Experience of maintaining accurate and up to date data and records
  • Ability to promote a positive image of higher education
  • A Full UK Driving Licence 

DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS 

  • Experience of delivering a range of interactive activities with schools and college groups
  • Experience of the British school/college education system
