In this introductory course in Science, you will gain the knowledge, skills and understanding required to make observations and measurements in order to undertake scientific explorations safely and effectively using the relevant equipment.

You will be able to develop knowledge and understanding of some of the fundamental concepts in Chemistry and be able to prepare useful chemical products as well as gaining a knowledge of basic cell structure and homeostasis as well as the study of human interaction with the environment and the role of genes in inheritance.

In addition, you will have the opportunity to find out about the fundamental principles of Physics and our universe by looking at energy, waves, radiation and space exploration. You will also construct simple electric circuits and take electrical measurements. As well as gaining the knowledge and skills needed to grow plants successfully, you will also learn how to measure the commercial success of plant growth.

An understanding of the most significant factors affecting health and an awareness of the causes of particular diseases will also form part of this Level 1 course.
