Public Services

Do you have aspirations to enter roles within the British Army, Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Police Force, Fire Service, Prison Service or other Emergency Service-related organisations? This course has a strong practical focus but also has an academic aspect incorporating topics such as the Government, Law, Politics and Citizenship.

If your dream job is an exciting, demanding and rewarding career in one of the essential Uniformed Public Services, then this course enables you to study the different services, develop the leadership skills and participate in the physical training which will allow you to progress towards Degree level study or employment in the Services. You will study topics such as criminology, law, public safety, society and politics and look at how these topics are directly linked to a career in one of the Services.

Sport is a significant part of the course. You will take part in team building activities and lots of physical fitness and training. Fitness requirements for the Services are high and you will be expected to reach the standard of entry for the Police Service by the end of the course.

You will be taught by highly qualified tutors who have many years’ experience working in and developing excellent links with the Services. You will meet sector speakers and go on visits to the Fire Service, Prisons, Paramedic Service, Police Service (including HQ, Operations Support and Riot Training), the Army (Look at Life programmes), Royal Marines, RAF Regiment and Royal Navy. Residential trips have included London, New York and Berlin.
