Make-up Artistry BA (Hons) (Top-up) (Subject to Validation)

The Make-up Artistry BA (Hons) Degree was developed in consultation with industry specialists to meet the ever-increasing demand for highly skilled make-up artists. Learn professional skills to become an innovative and in-demand make-up artist.

This course was designed to build on the skills acquired in each of its two-year pathway programmes (Prosthetic Make-Up Effects FD and Fashion & Editorial Make-up FD). You will learn professional skills to become an innovative and in-demand make-up artist.

A Level 6, the course both challenges and extends sector knowledge and encourages you to establish your professional practice. Modules include the development of your individual portfolio and a showcase module with a focus on your future career.

Teaching and learning will take place through a combination of lectures and seminars, presentations and tutorials.  Lectures and seminars provide an opportunity to share knowledge and experience providing a forum for discussion, debate and exploration of issues.  In addition, you will be expected to undertake 10-12 hours of independent study each week such as reading journal articles and books, undertaking research and preparing for assessments. You will be expected to become resourceful and entrepreneurial and to take responsibility for your own learning. Independent research, reporting on own reading, one to one guidance and small group discussion will be available to help you progress. Your independent study is supported by the excellent Learning Hub at the Aireville Campus in addition to the College’s Specialist Support Centre.

You will receive feedback on your formal assessments within four working weeks of the submission date.  You must receive a pass mark of 40 or above in all modules to achieve the BA (Hons) Degree.  Your overall grade for the course and your BA (Hons) Degree classification are based on the marks obtained for all modules.  More information can be found in the Regulations for Awards Validated by The Open University.
