Overview

The course provides a comprehensive understanding of equine management and will equip you with the necessary knowledge to assess the welfare needs of horses, enable you to acquire practical horse management skills and devise management strategies pertinent to the equine sector.

Our brand new £1.6m Animal Management Centre, due for completion in April 2018, will extend our high quality provision for Animal Management HNC students. Students choosing to opt for the equine management pathway will also benefit from expansion plans of facilities at our Auction Mart Campus. These facilities currently include an indoor arena and stabling, with full supporting equipment, show jumps, cross country jumps, fitness profiling of a horse and a weighbridge.

Modules of study include animal welfare, horse husbandry, horse and human relationship and a research project.

The Animal Management HNC is delivered at Craven College and is validated by Pearson. A HNC is a nationally recognised qualification in its own right and is in the first year of an HND course.
