Extended Project Qualification
At Craven College we now ensure all students complete the extended project qualification. This is an exciting new qualification which attracts full AS UCAS points and is also looked on favourably by universities. Candidates can choose to explore a further aspect of a subject they’re studying, or another subject, or simply choose a topic that they have a personal interest in. The finished project can be a written report, a performance, a piece of art, a community project, a CD or DVD, or even computer software.

Craven College Study Mentor Scheme
Craven College has a study mentor
scheme. Volunteers are placed in
local schools to act as ‘role models’,
encouraging school pupils to raise their
educational aspirations. The scheme
is intensive in terms of one-to-one
relationships but rewarding to those who
are involved. In simple terms a mentor is
a college student who talks and spends
time with you, with the aim of motivating
and encouraging you. A mentor will act as
a role model to encourage, motivate and
befriend a specially selected pupil, who
has possibly no family history of further
education, assisting in their personal, social
and academic development. You will get
the opportunity to create a relationship with
a mentor who can nurture and promote
the benefits of further education simply by
being an available source for questioning.
