The Sports and Outdoor Activities division will equip you with the skills to succeed in this vast industry in a stimulating and challenging environment. The college is ideally placed to make maximum use of the natural outdoor surroundings in the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District where tutors deliver specialist outdoor provision and a range of specialist qualifications.
The sports courses make excellent use of Craven’s 3rd Generation all weather pitch, the local sports centre, the swimming pool and gym and its own facilities.
Through these facilities and our highly qualified and experienced teaching staff, we deliver a wide range of full-time programmes and additional qualifications and awards. Students have the opportunity to go on residential trips including ski trips, Snowdonia, Scotland and a trip to Finland to train with premier league Football Club, KTP.
Follow in the footsteps of one ex-student who has progressed to study at Leeds Metropolitan University and will this year be going to the base camp of Mount Everest.
You will have the opportunity to try out for one of the college’s many Sports Development Centres and to take advantage of the opportunities offered through our Wellness and FESCo initiatives. On all courses you will be given the opportunity and encouraged to gain practical sports coaching, leadership and outdoor activities awards.
These courses may incur extra costs.
You will be encouraged to produce a Craven College Record of Employability, Skills and Training folder (CREST). This will detail all aspects of your work at college and your work experience and is an ideal way of promoting your skills to an employer at an interview.
