Start date: Monday 12th September 2011, Aireville Campus
This course will raise your knowledge and understanding of Mathematics up to Grade C in Foundation level GCSE. The course is a one year revision course and requires prior knowledge of mathematics.
This course requires candidates to demonstrate their knowledge, understanding and skills in Number, Algebra, Statistics and Geometry. There is an increased focus on applying mathematics in context, problem solving and reasoning tasks and the functional elements of mathematics.
You will be required to complete at least 2 hours homework each week and undertake regular in-class assessments.
This is a modular Course of three units:
16 – 19 year – Grade D GCSE
19+ - Grade D in GCSE, passed Level 2 Adult Numeracy or pass an initial assessment at induction
For students who do not meet these requirements it would be more appropriate for them to enrol on an Adult Numeracy course. If you are unsure as to whether this course is appropriate for you please contact Rachel Coombes on 01756 693825 to discuss your suitability for the course.
You will take three separate exams; two in March and one in May/June. They will last for between 1 and 1 and a half hours each.
