Re-brand for local Charity
Four students from Craven College’s Graphic Design department have been given the ultimate real life challenge to put their creative skills to the test. The team have been tasked by local charity The Beamsley Project to design a new brand.
The Beamsley Project is an independent charity that offers self-catering accommodation for people with disabilities and their families or carers. Staying at the Beamsley Project means people can enjoy a break in the Yorkshire Dales with the peace of mind that their accommodation will be fully accessible and catered to their specific needs.
After experiencing a life-changing accident Jack Morgan, Functional Skills lecturer at Craven College became a committed member of the Beamsley Project. Jack identified an opportunity for the Beamsley Project to work with Craven College to design a new logo and marketing materials to ensure that the charity continues to attract people with disabilities to its outstanding facilities. Working with William Lambert, Graphics Lecturer at Craven College, Rachel Ramsden, Head of Marketing, Skipton Building Society who raise significant funds for the Beamsley project a three way working partnership has been formed for the rebrand.
Jack Morgan says:
“I knew the Graphics students worked on live projects with their lecturer and felt that they would benefit from the experience and the opportunity to support a local charity. The Beamsley Project is a fantastic independent charity that provides self-catering accommodation, in the Yorkshire Dales, for people with disabilities. Its Patron is the Duke of Devonshire and was recently awardedthe Duke of York's Community Initiative. It has a lot to offer.”
Rachel Ramsden says:
“Skipton Building Society supported the Beamsley Project for many years raising thousands of pounds for the charity. We’re delighted to sponsor this rebranding project and also to donate a prize to the Craven College Graphics students. The Beamsley Project provides a life-line for families wanting to explore the beautiful Yorkshire Dales, and I’m really excited to see the new creative designs from the students!”
Work has already started on this special project. The first activity for students is to design a new logo and strap line that reflects the personality of the Beamsley Project. Representatives from the charity will then work with the college in selecting the best logo and strap line.
