Craven College’s Centre for Construction & Heritage Skills, Painting and Decorating students entered the Yorkshire Inter College Painting and Decorating Competition on Tuesday 19 June at Calderdale College. Ten colleges entered the competition; the standard of work produced was very high. Competitors had a blank wall panel which upon they had to apply ground coats for decorative effects, wood graining, marbling and rag rolling.
Mathew Sampson and Peace Townsend, both Level 1 Diploma students, took part and performed very well, with Peace Townsend coming in second place and Mathew Sampson in third place – a very good effort from both students, especially when most competitors were second year students. Prizes included tool boxes with an assortment of tools, certificates and trophies. A special prize was awarded to Peace who had carried out her decorative effects to a very high standard.
The Centre for Construction & Heritage Skills still has places remaining on full time skills courses and opportunities for Apprenticeships. Call 01756 791 411 or visit www.craven-college.ac..uk/apprenticeships for more details.
