Craven College has won joint Silver for The Heist Award for Best Further Education Prospectus (printed) category 2012 one of only 10 colleges shortlisted nationally from a record number of entries. The Heist Awards exist to recognise and celebrate the professionalism and innovation shown from the smallest regional college to global education brands.
The Marketing team conducted focus groups to review the past prospectus and evaluate its strengths and weaknesses and analysed feedback in order to make improvements and build on successes. The prospectus was produced to ensure that prospective students and parents have the best possible information and advice when investigating their post-16 progression routes. It is laid out in a way to help them navigate easily between sections, to compare and contrast all their options using three different colour coded sections to outline the Post-16 routes available to higher education or employment - either through A Levels, apprenticeships or vocational programmes. Different students learn in different ways some prefer academic study some practical hands on learning. The prospectus outlines all the options to suit each individual.
This is the first time all aspects of Craven College’s Further Education prospectus from copywriting, layout, photography and graphic design have been done in house with the College Marketing team. The team are delighted with the results not only how the prospectus looks and feels but how well it works helping guide students through their choices.

“Not only have you listened to feedback given from its users but also been innovative, creative and pioneering. So much so that other colleges have tried to copy you and follow in your wake. This year is no exception. I love it, the students I work with love it, and the parents/carers love it. It’s just so simple to use now that it is colour coded and split into sections. It still has photos of real students that as a ‘small community’ we can recognise someone in it. It has just the right amount of information. I believe it has been published locally and is eco-friendly. Well done!!”

“We pride ourselves on welcoming students to a safe, secure environment in which to study, by tutors who are committed to supporting them to achieve their chosen qualification. There are an extensive range of options both academic and vocational, with progression on to higher level study. The campuses are safe and attractive, with study areas and practical workshops equipped to industry standard, alongside excellent social facilities where students can meet new people and make new friends and we need to show these aspects in our literature.”
